Schoolwide Grading Policy

Schoolwide Grading Policy

In accordance with the Chancellor’s Regulations, New York State Common Core Learning Standards and the school’s vision, teachers, in collaboration with appropriate school-based staff and under the principal’s leadership, must ensure that instructional and support interventions are provided for all students including those who are at risk of not meeting the promotion standards. All assessments must be meaningful and designed to measure each student’s individual level of mastery. All students are responsible for regularly checking assignments on Jupiter as all teachers will be using it as a means of communication.

Courses in The Social Studies Department follow the school wide grading policy with minor exceptions for elective classes. Regents grades may be considered to change a student’s grade from failing to passing when the student has demonstrated proficiency in that subject by passing the Regents. The Regents grade may count as much as 20% of a student’s grade for this purpose.
